PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project objective

The overall objective is to create and equip a National Tourist Information Centre in the town of Stefanesti, Arges county. It aims to facilitate access to information of general interest data needed to harness local tourism national and international tourist market.

The specific objectives are:
 creating awareness among tourists, offering notions as objective and complete;
 promoting the tourism potential of the city stefanesti, Arges County;
 qualitative growth, to European standards, the ensemble; tourism industry conditions, with direct impact on growth of tourist demand in Romania;
 capitalization of tourist attractions in the area for growth by favoring the emergence and development of local economic operators, thereby transforming areas with low economic competitiveness in areas attractive to investors;
 creation of a computer network by transmitting information about the tourist potential of the area between information center and tour operators in the area;
 cooperation with the central public authority for tourism and providing upon request, statistical data on local and regional tourist traffic, data on events that role in the increased tourist traffic is done locally and regionally, and providing other information on tourism and travel activities locally and regionally;

Context

The project entitled “National Center for Information and Tourism Promotion – stefanesti” meets the objectives of European, national, regional, county and local promotion of tourism potential and creating the necessary infrastructure to increase exploitation of natural resources and increasing the quality of tourism services.

 European Context
This project aims to create and equip a National Tourist Information Centre in the town of Stefanesti, Arges county to local resources and improve the quality of tourism services in line with European standards.
The “National Center for Information and Tourism Promotion – stefanesti” is fully consistent with the strategic guidelines, since results obtained by this project aim to improve the attractiveness of the area and help create new jobs.

 National Context
The implementation of this project contribute to achieving national targets proposed by the National Tourism Development Master Plan 2007-2026 Romania.
Project “National Center for Information and Tourism Promotion – stefanesti” contribute to the priorities of national development in tourism, on:
 Encourage development;
 foster the enhancement and preservation of cultural heritage;
 Contribute to the development and preservation of physical and natural resources throughout the country;
 distribute the benefits of tourism in all regions.
In the “National Strategy for Sustainable Development of Romania Horizons 2013-2020”, a priority objective, strategic advice and an important prerequisite for the implementation of sustainable development principles in fact, the medium and long term, is the sustainable development and promotion of tourism – achieved primarily through sustainable exploitation of cultural heritage and natural resources with tourism potential. According to this strategy, achieving this goal will result in the growth regions’ development of local economies and create new jobs.
National Development Plan 2007 – 2013 identifies six development priorities of the country. One of them (P6) is the one that envisages reducing development disparities between regions. Between subpriorities this action (SP 6.3.3 Develop local and regional tourism) include ‘development of services related to promoting tourist attractions “.

Furthermore, the objective of marketing and promotion mix at national level is to establish Romania’s image in the international market as a destination that offers a wide range of outstanding natural and cultural attractions, with good quality facilities and service.

 Regional Context
Principles of regional policy in the field of tourism are increasing the contribution of tourism to the Regions.
The objectives of the “National Center for Information and Tourism Promotion – stefanesti” will contribute to the European objective of economic and social cohesion by improving the attractiveness of regions in terms of tourism, the creation of new jobs, and therefore will meets the objectives of the National Regional Development Strategy, which identified tourism development as a regional development priority, given the existing tourism potential in all regions.

 Context county
The proposed project is consistent with the Arges County Multi-annual Operational Programme 2007-2013. Investments in tourism and culture will allow Arges county to use its potential advantages of tourism and cultural heritage in identifying and strengthening their identity to improve their competitive advantage in sectors with high added value and high quality content both in traditional markets and new markets in training. Tourism development will follow the principles of sustainable development, conservation, and protection of natural and cultural, but also the principle of reducing human pressure upon the Environment, avoided in the practice large-scale tourism.
For Arges county is particularly important to preserve what remains of cultural heritage, thereby saving the total destruction of historical buildings, monuments, museums, theaters, historical works of art. These cultural preservation initiatives proposed by local authorities must be accompanied by a consistent territorial planning for preserving (and, where possible, restoring) the historic centers of towns, maintaining traditional architectural styles and conserving medieval historical cities. Consequently, support for investment promotion and proper use of tourism potential cultural, historical and natural is a real opportunity for sustainable development of Arges county. Also, the increase in investment in tourism, namely its role in GDP growth, will reduce intra- and inter-regional disparities (in line with the strategic objective of the ROP) and will also stimulate the development of other tourism related services.
